Why Choose Ke Garne?

Ke Garne is a nonprofit organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Among the many volunteer organizations in the country, what sets us apart is that we are a small, locally-run NGO led by a team of passionate Nepali social workers. Founded in 2015, we are a government-registered charity and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal. Our mission is to support communities and individuals in need through the help of local and international volunteers. Each year, volunteers from around the world both skilled and unskilled join our efforts in Nepal.

Our main goal is to provide volunteer work, internships, and cultural exchange opportunities for international travelers. We also offer Nepali language courses, cooking classes, and homestays. We aim to provide affordable and meaningful placements that match the volunteer’s interests and skills. International volunteers can participate in a wide range of programs, such as volunteering in schools, orphanages, hospitals, rehabilitation homes, elderly care centers, and more. Our placements include roles in teaching, medical care, nursing, physiotherapy, social work, women’s empowerment, and even photojournalism.

Charity Work in Nepal

Ke Garne is actively involved in charity work to support children, women, and marginalized communities in Nepal. Many areas lack proper resources and support. We focus on improving conditions in under-equipped schools, orphanages, and hospitals by sending volunteers and gathering community support. We also collaborate with international charities. Currently, we are working with a German charity that supports education for children in Nepal.

Our History

We began by hosting international volunteers at our hostel. Over time, we became involved in various volunteer and social work activities that positively impacted Nepali communities. We realized the importance of having a local, trustworthy, and affordable organization to help others volunteer in Nepal. Based on feedback from early participants, we officially registered Ke Garne as a non-profit. Since then, we’ve grown and developed more structured and meaningful volunteer and internship opportunities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to work closely with communities, involving volunteers who want to help others and bring positive change. We want to make Nepal a better place and promote Nepali hospitality through service, tourism, and friendship. We believe everyone is looking to improve their lives, and volunteering can help achieve that. Through genuine human connections and cultural experiences, volunteers gain a better understanding of others and themselves. These deep insights lead to personal growth and discovery.

All of our programs are based on four key values:

Real Community Living: Stay in local villages and share space with fellow volunteers for an authentic cultural experience.

Being Responsible: We prioritize community needs and carefully match volunteers accordingly.

Top-Notch Support: You’re never just a number—we offer 24/7 personal support.

Safety First: We conduct thorough safety training and offer constant emergency support.

Experienced Team: Our passionate, local staff ensures you get a real and reliable experience.

Just Like You: We share your values—love for travel, connection, and doing good.

Flexible Programs: No one-size-fits-all here—we customize every volunteer journey.
