Who Are We?
Ke Garne is a Nepali phrase meaning “What to do?” or “What can be done?” Inspired by this spirit, we are a team of passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds who came together to form a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization. Our focus is on education, sustainability, healthcare, and community support in rural areas of Nepal.
What Do We Do?
Ke Garne offers meaningful short-term volunteer placements in public schools and kindergartens, organizes sustainable community support and training programs, and runs basic health camps in villages. We also focus on environmental projects that support agriculture and green initiatives.
We also offer long-term, paid internships. One of our key achievements is coordinating Erasmus+ programs, where German students worked in Nepali public schools, sharing educational methods and supporting teachers and students.
What Is Our Purpose?
Our main goal is to provide a loving and safe environment for vulnerable and needy children, while supporting communities with limited access to medical care. We also run unique “half trip, half volunteering” programs—where profits from tourism are reinvested into education and healthcare for underprivileged families.
What Are Our Objectives?
- Ensure every child has access to education and care in line with the UN Declaration on the Rights of the Child.
- Promote cultural exchange and community support.
- Run medical awareness programs, training sessions, and sustainable environmental projects in rural areas.
- Provide shelter, food, education, healthcare, and emotional support to orphans and children affected by natural disasters, conflict, or abandonment.
What Do We Hope For?
We aim to build an eco-friendly home and school with organic vegetable gardens, promoting sustainable living and education.
Active Programs in Nepal
Ke Garne organizes impactful volunteer and internship programs in rural areas such as Nuwakot, Bandipur, and Riepe Village. Our past projects include:
- Sunshine Project for school children
- Youth training programs
- Fundraising events
- Tree planting and well building initiatives
- No prior experience is required, just the willingness to help and make a difference. Each program is unique and life-changing.
Where Are Volunteers Placed?
We place volunteers in the countryside, mainly in Nuwakot, Bandipur, and Riepe Village. Volunteers stay with local families, receive two home-cooked Nepali meals per day (at around 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.), and have a private room. Tea is served in the morning and afternoon.
Volunteers work 5–6 hours daily (except on public holidays). Most schools and organizations operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., six days a week (Saturdays are off). During weekends or holidays, volunteers can explore nearby towns or join community activities such as environmental awareness or women’s empowerment workshops.
Want to Experience Nepalese Culture Up Close?
Volunteering in Nepal gives you the chance to live like a local, understand Nepalese traditions, and explore the stunning Himalayan landscapes—all while contributing to a meaningful cause. Whatever your background, education, medical, engineering, or social work we have a program that suits you.
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering in Nepal can be a life-changing experience. Your time and effort can significantly impact individuals and communities. As a locally-run organization, we understand Nepal deeply and operate efficiently with minimal overhead, ensuring that your support goes where it’s most needed.
From the moment you arrive to the day you leave, we ensure a safe, meaningful, and rewarding stay. We offer orientations, Nepali language and cultural training, and guided tours to help you settle in.
